I love to go to the woods at different times of the year. I call these visits my 'expeditions'. I always discover something I've never seen before. This particular adventure took place at Alsea Falls in early Spring, and I was looking for flowers. Then, I met an Oregon Boa for the first time. I couldn't see his face, because he was hiding in pink fairy-slipper orchids. By looking closely for him, I realized these orchids look like the heads of snakes with open mouths. These forest floor flowers create great protection for a little boa.
