Karin Clarke Gallery, in coordination with the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, is pleased to present Beyond the Figure, an exhibition bringing together expressive figurative works by six of Oregon’s most notable artists: Rick Bartow (1946–2016), Newport; Margaret Coe (b. 1941), Eugene; Mark Clarke (1935–2016), Eugene; Adam Grosowsky (b. 1959), Eugene; George Johanson (1928–2022), Portland; and Robert Schlegel (1947–2021), Banks.
Beyond the Figure celebrates the possibilities of the human form through the unique voices of six distinctive Oregon artists. Each artist approaches working with the figure with a deeply personal sensibility, revealing something of their individual way of seeing. Together, the collection of two-dimentional works demonstrates the vitality and diversity of figurative art in Oregon.
