Not a mushroom, but a fantastic marker plant for later foraging, Allotropa Virgata feeds on sugar from pines through healthy mycelium networks of the matsutake mushroom. If you find them in the spring, don't disturb them -- they're a rare species -- but if you revisit the spot in the fall, you will find the lovely matsutake.
