Humberto Gonzalez - Biography

Humberto Gonzalez lives and paints in the Willamette Valley. He travels throughout the Pacific Northwest and finds favorite viewpoints to paint on site using watercolor and most recently acrylic paint.

 

Biography
Gonzalez was born in Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico on March 25, 1944. His family immigrated to McAllen Texas in 1954 and moved to the Chicago area in 1958. In 1971, Gonzalez moved to Lebanon, Oregon to accept a teaching position at Lebanon Union High School where he taught Spanish, painting, drawing, English fiction and novel before retiring in 1999. Gonzalez is currently painting full time.

EDUCATION:
1968       MA in secondary education with emphasis on painting and drawing. Began teaching middle school level in Glencoe, Illinois.
1967       BA degree with a major in art and Spanish literature. Received a continuation stipend from the Ginsberg Foundation toward graduate study.
1963       Graduated from Aurora West High School, Aurora, IL. Received Outstanding Art Student award and Ginsberg Foundation scholarship. Continued art studies at Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Illinois.
