Tina Schrager was born in New York City and lived in eight states and one foreign country before settling in Northern California. She attended University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, receiving a B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics. She is a self- taught artist.
In the late 70s and 80s, she established a studio/retail space in Glen Ellen, CA, from which she produced one-of-a-kind wearable art. Upon moving to Eugene in 1991, she made a transition to doing mixed media collage on paper. She also began working as a volunteer in the exhibits program at Maude Kerns Art Center. In 1996, she helped to establish a satellite gallery at Lavelle Vineyards in Elmira, OR, which she curated for several years.
Schrager eventually took over as Exhibits Coordinator at the MKAC from 1999 until her retirement in 2006. Her work has been exhibited in one-person and small group shows at DIVA in Eugene, the Art Center, Corvallis, the Kaiser Art Center, and at the Maude Kerns Art Center.
